I know a few reviews have said this stuff is more fiber than coco coir chips, so I bought with caution. But as it turned out, the bag I got was definitely more chips than fiber! I’m fact, it has a higher chip-to-fiber ratio than ANY reptile-branded coco chip I have used … even though those reptile-branded products were two or three times the price of this big cube!
The chips were small, most about a half inch across, which is perfect for what I need (ball python bedding). And, LET ME TELL YOU WHAT. I never knew that coco chips were able to expand like the fine-ground coco coir soil does. But when you have more coir chips than fiber, WOW. DOES IT EVER EXPAND!
I chopped off the top 3 1/2” of the block (roughly), and hydrated the whole slab. The result was just under 15 qt. of fluffy bedding! My goodness, this stuff is going to last a whole lot longer than the other brands I’ve purchased. I’m already buying a second block!
So, maybe the amount of fiber you get is just luck of the draw. That’s kind of a shame, but the block I ended up with is seriously going to save my tail end a lot of work.

This was the first time we used this product and i will start by saying it’s interesting. First of all we realized you definitely have to let it sit a bit and it will expand so that was a positive! We used this product with plants on our patio garden this year and don’t know if it’s coincidence or what but we got an excellent harvest!! Awesome!! The plants retained an even moisture while draining well- Another positive!! We also noticed there didn’t seem to be quite as many pests around the plants as in past seasons - again could be coincidental but will chalk that up to a positive as well. So being that we had a good experience with this product- we will buy it and use again. We found our experience with Grow!it Coco Coir Chips to be positive!!

There was nowhere in town that sold mulch so I had to buy it over the internet. I'm so glad I did. This product really filled out and gave me more than enough mulch to finish my two raised beds and the small garden near my mailbox out front.
It took a while to break apart but we expected that because we had used cocofiber before with our hermit crabs. We set it up in an under the bed storage container and filled it with water. It went quicker when i broke apart the block by hand as it soaked. This gave us more than enough mulch for the garden. It holds the moisture in the beds very well and i'm happy that i'll be able to turn it in the garden next year and have some more organic materials to fill out my garden.

This chunky stuff is great for topping off potted tropicals, but too chunky, I think, for tilling in as an aerator in a garden.
There are much finer grinds that are good for that.
It is a big 11 lb. compressed block in a sturdy plastic bag and it swells to an amazing degree. Just bust off as much as you want to use and put it in a bucket and hose it down. Once you get it all swollen, change out that water and figure out how many more of these you're gonna need.
Sometimes I rehydrate mine with rainwater and put it all around my banana trees or my tomato plants. It sure looks pretty all wet, strategically placed in a favorite bed.
This company ships fast and AMZL delivered it in 2 days.

These chips rehydrated quickly; my husband placed them in a Tubtrug and added water. In less than 10 minutes, they were ready to easily spread and we did not have to struggle to get them apart (unlike other brands of mulch blocks). We did not rinse but instead added directly to top my herb bed before winter and my herbs are coming back nicely in the spring, so there has been so pH problem. One block of mulch covered the 4' x 8' herb garden with ~2" of mulch so the yield seems appropriate. I have not had any trouble with mold and the mulch looks good (see picture). Overall, I am pleased with this mulch because it is so easy to work with, and will buy more to cover other garden beds. Highly recommended!!

I use this as bedding for my reptiles (it's generic reptichip) and my spouse uses it as mulch cover for the garden to retain humidity. It's awesome for both purposes. Holds humidity well without molding.
The large chunks thatch together so that even if an animal spills their water bowl over they themselves stay dry while the water stays underneath them. It's the best reptile bedding around really. I can line about 9-11, 41 qt sterilite tubs per block at a decently generous depth. The blocks themselves are heavily compressed and lightweight so they don't take up much space and are easy to move around. Ive been buying this regularly for years now. Great stuff.

This is a good product...however it's not at all what I was expecting from a product that says "coco coir chips." It is almost all coir and some chips. I was expecting way more chips and a lot less coir/coco hairs. I will gladly use this in big pots outside mixed with coco peat. However, "coco croutons" is what I was looking for (from the same company.) Croutons are a perfect replacement for perlite and the roots can utilise the croutons as a medium as well as aeration. Roots will actually grow through the croutons rather than avoid them, like perlite, and aerate as well. I see better results with croutons vs perlite.

This has been the best coco mulch I have tried so far. It is less compacted than some bricks but expands to the same volume.
It had no foreign plant particles and only a couple small pieces of plastic, less yhan others I have tried. It is also the only mulch brick so far that has been zero dust. The fibers are thick and consistent and it was definitely mulch and not coir.
I am mixing it with some other mulch as a bedding for my high humidity snakes as it is resistant to mold and fungus while holding humidity well. This is also why dust matters to me.
Great for the price too!

I had been using another name brand of coco coir chips made specifically for reptiles, but acquiring it from reptile expos wasn't always convenient. I decided to try GROW!T despite some of the unfavorable reviews. I'm very pleased with how it compares to the previous product I used. It looks, feels, smells, and holds humidity just like my previous substrate. I've recommended it several times in reptile groups. This brick weighs 9# and has free delivery (when ordering 2 or more bricks). One brick was enough to change the substrate in 11 28 qt tubs with some leftover for refreshing spot cleans.

I am using this for mulch on my container grown vegetables. Works great and is better for organic gardening than other mulches I looked into. I love the convenience of the compressed products and the price is reasonable for what you get, the only downside is I wish it came in a pack about half the size, as I have a whole lot leftover(almost 13 gal.) after covering the tops of about 15 container plants. Also a plus that coconut coir is better for the environment.
