I've been using the FoxFarm trio Grow Big/Big Bloom/Tiger Bloom for years for backyard gardening. When used correctly (diluted and applied with correct frequency), this fertilizer produces potent results within hours, in my case - overnight. Not so much with Tiger Bloom and Big Bloom for flowers or fruit, but more with Grow Big for lettuce and other greens. The instructions are clear and right on the bottle without cumbersome superfine print labels of any kind.
When I first started gardening, I suffered very poor harvests due to incorrect understanding of soil fertility, fertilizing and specifically using liquid fertilizers. So I believe there are several things that might be useful to those looking into liquid fertilizers, and getting the most out of them.
Several things to know:
- Liquid fertilizers are almost always concentrates and deliver a one-time nutrient feed. Therefore, they must be applied several times a week or once weekly to keep up the good results. Do not expect this bottle to last a season if you have a decent size garden! :)
- Your results may vary based on nutritional quality of your soil. If your soil is poor quality and has not been amended with compost/manure, then you would expect to see quite dramatic results in growth/bloom/fruiting. If, on the other hand, your soil is rich, then you might be nutrient burning your plants, which may or may not show within a day. With the exception of tomatoes, squash family and potatoes to name a few, most plants would use up the available nutrients in a rich soil within the first 2 months of growth, and will need to be fertilized regularly from there on. So I recommend testing your soil regularly for N,P,K or use the general 2 months rule to start supplementing your plants.
- Regular use of liquid fertilizers, this one especially, leaves salts in the soil that affect plant's nutrient uptake and soil composition. Depending on what plant you are growing, and whether your outdoor garden gets enough rain in winter, you may need to manually flush (repeatedly drench the soil with water) your soil to get rid of those salts. I killed my indoor prayer plant by not knowing this.
- Always water with plain water -after- you fertilize with liquid diluted fertilizers, because it ensures that the nutrients you trying to deliver will reach the roots of the plant.

Overall, I highly recommend using FoxFarm liquid fertilizers and don't mind that they are not organic because of great results I've had with them opposed to several other prominent brands.

This is an honest non paid for non free item given review.

It says sold by FoxFarm, but it is not. FoxFarm does not sell any of their products online. I contacted them to ask where I can purchase them online, in case I cannot make it to my local nurseries. They told me they do not sell anything online. And also not to trust anyone who does. That they will be sold by 3rd parties. That we do not know if they are already expired, or how those 3rd parties handle and store their products. And plus there are SEVERAL counterfeits out there as well. Since scammers can now reproduce bottles and labels to look just like any brand out there.

If these products are not stored properly, they will grow mold before even reaching you. Or, their potency will be drastically less by the time they reach you. Or they will be already expired or close to expire.

*Most FoxFarm liquid products only last 2 years post production date. If they have been stored properly, in dark COOL (NOT sunny/bright, hot, warm or humid) and dry spaces only.

Convenience is nice. But check the labels, make sure they always show the expiration date, or produced on date. To make sure they are not expired. But also check the codes on the labels. You can send FoxFarm's Help Team a photo of them to FoxFarm via e-mail to ask them if what you just purchased is true FoxFarm or a counterfeit. They helped me find true and counterfeit products I bought online!

3 Stars because it's hard to tell if what you are getting is true or counterfeit, already expired or close to expire.
5 Stars for FoxFarms products in general, when bought at a certified dealer! FoxFarm rocks! Our tomatoes loves em!

My botany professors and chemist friends always told me that only the ratios of N to P to K matter. Where the nute came from is irrelevant. I believe them for years until I started growing orchids. Then suddenly I noticed a huge difference between chemical fertilizers with high NPK numbers and high dilution rates and organic fertilizers with modest NPK numbers and low dilution rates. The plant's root tips didn't burn with the organics and there was no need for regular massive flushes with water to keep the medium from becoming fertilizer salt encrusted.
Fox Farms makes one of the best organic liquid fertilizers to be found plus they seem to be compatible with mixing in your applicator equipment. They warn you that you should fully dilute each ingredient before adding it to the tank to avoid precipitation out of solution, but as long as all of the ingredients are from Fox Farms, I have never had an issue.
Sadly, on a dollar per pound of nitrogen scale (commonly used to determine cost effectiveness in the industry) these products are uber expensive. But if you are only growing a few dozen plants or have a small greenhouse, they won't break the bank and I assure you they are worth it.

I’ve been using fox farms for about 2 years, mainly it was growing seeds and it always worked well. But this spring I did an experiment.

I had 3 Hydrangea plants that were out of the way, been there for years and were always overlooked. So I followed the directions on the bottle and fertilized just one of the plants with fox farms, another with miracle grow And the other with nothing. I did this for 4 months.

The Fox farm fertilized plant sprouted leaves faster, became 10 times fuller and flowered about 70% more. It was amazing.

July: The other 2 grew about the same, a slight difference with Miracle Grow (I know people have had luck with it, but that was the honest results).

It’s August now and the fox farms has some late sprouting flowers, still healthy and beautiful. The miracle grow did better as the season went on, but not as bushy. The one I did nothing put water has few leaves and the flowers have wilted.

So.... it works. My favorite is boomerang by Fox farms.

been using this a few years mostly on weed plants but have also been using on loads of different types of house plants and outdoor flowering accent container pots.. I use it about every month
for the indoors house plants at a ratio of 4 tablespoons per gallon.. The weed plants get this about 3 months after they are planted after the foxfarm soil they are planted in looses its fertilizer then I start this through the flowering stage. I start at the ratio of 4 tablespoons per gallon and slowly end up at 1/2 cup per gallon just as the directions say to do. I've never tried anything else guess. The pic is exactly what 4 tablespoons in a gallon should look like. This is as authentic as the stuff I have always used. just a tip.. I have a large mechanic oil container that I use to water many of the houseplants.. when the water drains all the fertilizer drains along with it. so I catch it in the big plastic tub and reuse it until there is no waste.. its too expensive to waste this product!!

We've used Fox Farm Big Bloom for several years and whole heartedly recommend it to those who want a quality product. Our small scale farm specializes in organic heirloom tomatoes, so of course organic fertilizers are the only choice for us. We alternate the fertilizing by using FoxFarm Big Bloom and Happy Frog Tomato & Vegetable. Both organic and between the two, have aided greatly in the success of our tomato harvests. The FoxFarm fertilizer can be used by foliar or drench feeding.

The cost of this product is not cheap. With that in mind, we buy the gallon size container which in the long run is a great savings over buying by the quart. Tho this is not a garden aid with a cheap price, it is a product that greatly aids in producing healthy plants and quality organic produce. Happy gardening.

I am really happy with this product. Easy to use and my plants seem to love it. I have a watering can and I add one capful every single time to this. I plan to get the "trio" they offer next. I also use seaweed kelp powder and azomite powder. I give all my plants lots of love. I prefer to do it as naturally as possible to avoid the "burn" that other feritlizers give. I have had this a month now and still have over a half bottle left. I use it on all my indoor plants, all 40 of my fruit trees, all our patio pots, shrubs and hanging baskets as well as all my annual flowers.

Avoid Scott's products. I was using them for a while but found out they are affiliated with GMO, Monsanto and Round-Up. It is important that we do NOT support these companies anymore.

I used the this along with the Grow Big and Tiger Bloom. You’re supposed to start with Big Bloom as it’s the the plant food essentially and then follow the soil feeding schedule according to FoxFarms. I used Foxfarm’s Ocean floor amended into my horrible nutrient deficient Kellogg Organic soil. Fertilized with Azomite, blood meal and bone meal from Down to Earth Organics as my slow release fertilizers.

This has been my go-to fertilizer ever since I was forced to abandon my huge in-ground garden—averaged 60 heirloom tomatoes and about every other vegetable you can think of—and “downsize” to container gardening. Tomatoes are very heavy-feeders and once they start setting blossoms, they get a bi-weekly watering with a diluted solution of this and a little kelp meal and they thrive—and produce!
