Worth every penny!
April 29, 2021
As somewhat of a beginner to indoor gardening I’ve killed a LOT of plants due to the following (1) planter too big (2) overwatering (3) too much/too little sunlight and (4) using cheap soil from a very popular brand.
I’ve gone through bags of this “MG” soil as I’ve tried to replace my dead plants. Even the “moisture control” variety does not work.
These mistakes resulted in root rot and a fungus gnat infestation. Neem oil, cinnamon and spraying the soil with a dish soap/water mixture did not work. The sticky yellow paper merely showed me how bad the problem was...they were covered in gnats.
To solve the problem I had to isolate my plants in the bathroom with sticky paper hanging to catch the gnats. Then I discarded the old soil, set aside the plants/roots after shaking off soil, sanitized the pots in 10% bleach water for 10 min (I used the tub), soaked in just water for 10 min, then repotted plants in this FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil.
(Prior to that I had switched to smaller terra cotta planters with drainage holes.)
Here’s what I learned... high quality soil with good drainage is key! I now mostly water from the bottom. This is a HUGE bag of soil. It’s worth the price because your plants will THRIVE! Plants that had gone completely dormant are now sprouting. No sign of gnats anywhere. Thank you FoxFarm!

BEST SOIL ON THE MARKET
April 24, 2021
As you can tell from my photos, my girls love Fox Farm Soil! It’s a little pricey but you definitely see the quality of flower you get by using this soil! I’ve used a lot of other brands and nothing comes close to Farm Brand of soil, we may have other similar products out there that are pretty close to the same ingredients but for me personally I just like fox farms the consistency is always there in the soil I’ve never got one bad batch of soil or have it come really dry like other brands have fun it’s always nice and moist and fresh! You could literally get by on growing with just the soil alone that’s how good it is, and not have to add extra nutrients to your soil! My only issue with Fox Farm soil is that I wish it was sold at more stores but probably due to the high cost that’s probably why you don’t see it in a lot of stores usually in hydroponic store I’ve been lucky enough to find it at, other than that I have to order it online! Overall this is really good quality soil and if you’re considering buying it don’t consider it just do it you won’t regret it and you can thank me later!!
If you have any questions about Foxfarm soil feel free to ask,me also if you felt my review to be helpful please check this was helpful thanks...!

Great for starting Hot Peppers indoors (watch my study)
March 23, 2022
I start my hot peppers indoors (on Long Island) in March and then transplant outdoors 2 months later. I used to buy Jiffy seed starting mixture to sow my seeds in cell trays. Then, a couple weeks after they sprout I transplant them into 3.5" starter pots containing Promix or other non-fertilized soil. Then, I would use FoxFarm's Grow Big and Big Bloom fertilizer for the second month until the plants went in the ground outside. NOW: I skip all that madness and use Ocean Forest or Happy Frog to start my seeds and as the growing medium while the plants are inside with NO FERTILIZER required! Super easy and worth the extra expense (cause this stuff ain't cheap). *It does contain some large pieces of bark and twigs, so just pick them out when you're using it for starting seeds.
I just did a 3-month experiment on this at 86peppers dot com. I compared Ocean Forest vs Happy Frog, along with Espoma soil and plain topsoil.

Happy Plants!!
March 16, 2021
My plants are so happy now! I noticed a difference within a few days. Leaves were perking up and looked brighter.
I've been trying to turn my black thumb to green over the past year and have mostly success. But lately I've noticed a lot of issues with their leaves.
I've never known much about fertizer and such but I think the old reused dirt and old fertilizer had both lost their nutrients. So I ordered a plant meter, some new fertizer, and this dirt, along with a plant light.
I gently replanted my houseplants in the new dirt and now have them on a healthy schedule of fertizing and light.
Thanks for the inspiration to do better. Will definitely recommend and will be back for more!

Real?
June 30, 2021
Ok so I'm with everyone that thinks this product is subpar or dare I say a fake. I started my garden with 10 bags and some did better than others. I've since ordered 2 more bags and a full spectrum soil testing kit and will report back with the results. Anything under 30$ a bag is an excellent deal especially shipped to your door but almost seems too good to be true now that I think about it. Fox farms website has a list of authorized dealers and I havent seen this seller which doesn't mean much. I will be doing soil tests considering I spent over 300$ and will report back with the results. My next review will have the same title.

What's with the drainage? Step it up.
January 05, 2021
I like this stuff pretty decently. I bought a four pack and one of the four bags refuses to soak any water. It drains straight out the bottom. I thought it was the small cups I had them in in the beginning. After a couple of weeks of dealing with the issue I transplanted into the normal one gallon containers I use and the same issue. I thought, "maybe after a few waterings." Nope. Same problem persists. Straight out the bottom. One day watering the problem caused two plants to drop on another killing one, busting up the other two, one being a super unique pheno started from seed. Very disappointed. Step it up Fox Farm.

The only soil I will use!
June 27, 2020
I have been using this for a couple years now, but do to the price I decided to try some other soils. Miracle grow was a MASSIVE bust for me, as were some of the compressed brick varieties of soil. The hysteria surrounding Covid-19 had the price up to the $50-$55 range, WAY more than I would ever be willing to pay. Luckily, now that things are starting to calm down the price has also come back to normal ranges. The soil is light and stays perfectly aerated while still retaining the proper amount of water. I will never try anything else ever again, at least not anything that isn't specifically from FoxFarm.

Worth every penny.
November 30, 2018
This is expensive soil. I must buy 10 bags every season because It just works! I do add it with some organic compost and depending on what i am planting some regular soil. This soil is my go to for grow bags. I use it for cucumbers in grow bags. last year, with the right protection I had cucumbers in late November. I grow organic, and this soil was first recomended to me by a landscape designer as her go to soil. It is so hard fo me to find around here. I would have to travel an hour up, an hour back to get it...WHEN they have it. They run out a lot. If you are on the edge, try one bag.

Super fast shipping
April 21, 2019
I gave this a 4 because, not all bags at consistently mixed. I bought 40 bags, I am using 10 gal grow bags, some grow bags drain great, I have a couple that are just hydro locking really bad, and I had one bag that settled and was so compact it killed one of my plants. But on a good note, this company ships super fast, my plants love this soil and are doing great in the other bags. My plants are growing nice and are dark green. So with the couple bags I had issues with, I worked thru those, FoxFarm needs to work out there consistency issues. But this seller is phenomenal!
