This review is for the 16" wall mounted pullcord-operated fan.

I work from home, and it gets up to about a hundred degrees in the summer here, so I was more than ready to buy a good fan for my workroom. Said workroom is very small, only about 10x10, so when I first mounted this fan and switched it on my first thought was that I should have gotten the smaller one. Even pointed straight and not down (fan is mounted as close to the ceiling as the instructions allowed) there seemed to be a lot of wind at the lowest setting and I was worried about papers and stuff blowing around. As it hadn't yet hit a hundred degrees I thought I'd wait for a really hot day to decide what to do. Well the hot days are here and I think I am leaving this beast just where it is. I honestly feel like the air conditioning is on when this is running, even on a blazing hot day. If my brother comes home from work and switches the a/c on without telling me I can't even tell. Oh by the way I wasn't sure how the pull cords would work as opposed to a remote but don't worry, they work great. The left one controlls the oscillation (either off or on) and the right cycles through the settings, of which there are three. There is no possible way I will ever need to go above one in this room but in a larger space I'm sure they'd be aces.

tl;dr: Buy this fan. It *might* be too powerful for a very small room but if pointed more upwards it shouldn't actually blow anything over and the air movement is great in the summer, even without it pointed down at me. I think I will buy another for the kitchen, which is much larger than my workroom. If you're really sure this one might be too big they seem to have a smaller one which would probably be great too, perhaps at a higher setting.

I can't express the joy of this fan enough. To start off, the shipping was very fast. Though I have 2-day shipping through Prime. The fan itself is very easy to assemble. If you've purchased a pedestal fan, chances are you had to put the blade on and enclose with the grill, which is easy as pie. The instruction manual included is simple and precise. The mounting of the fan itself could be a little difficult if you're not that handy. But it is as simple as screwing 3 screws into the mounting bracket, which MUST go into a stud in your wall. FYI: if you do not have an expensive stud finder, it is easy to find a stud by simply tapping on the wall and when the sound gets dull and doesn't have an echo, then you've found the stud. Or more precisely, you can find a stud by finding an outlet on your wall and tapping directly on either side of it on the wall. Whatever side has the dull sound, then you found your "guide stud." Simply measure in either direction 16 inches, or 24 inches, because in American built homes, there are studs placed every 16 or 24 inches apart. So that is a simple trick to find your studs in the wall. I took it a step further with my installation. I took a small piece of wood about 4" by 7" and attached that to my stud so there would be more room to attach the mounting bracket and more support. I included pictures. Lastly, the fan is surprisingly quiet considering. There is some "white noise" of course, but it drowns out after you get busy and not focus on it. I highly recommend this fan. The price and value are unbeatable. Very nice piece of equipment.

Does not automatically oscillate. You must be pulling the cord and it will oscillate to position. When you let go of the cord it stops oscillating. Simply pull the cord and it will start oscillation and when you let go of the cord it stops at that position. If you want it to automatically continually oscillate right and left it will not.

We mounted the fan on a wall in the garage. The instructions say to screw mounting plate directly to a post or wooden upright. We wanted the fan near the door so we could turn it on the minute we walked in. We live in SW Florida. There is not a stud where we wanted it put and besides the mounting plate is wider than a 2x4 stud. We solved this problem by attaching a 5.5" x 12" board to the wall with 4 molly bolts or anchors with screws and then screwing the mounting plate into the board and it was secure. Our way worked on a wall with no stud behind it.

You can turn the dial for the speed you want but since we mounted it high and pointed it downward the strings make it easy to turn on/off or change speed or oscillation. For height disadvantaged people having pull strings is really handy.

Great fan for the money and nice to have over the workbench. Could feel the fan breeze 15 feet away on low.

I have limited floor space - but plenty of walls. I've had it for 3 months and I'm very happy with it so far. This fan is a perfect fit for my smallish apartment to help circulate air and cool us off. It was easy to mount on the wall - it's a bit hefty so I recommend mounting it on a stud. I appreciate the hanging cords for switching the speed and oscillation. The adjustable tilt is good for switching it from blowing directly on us to cool, or blowing up towards the ceiling to circulate air. Removable blades and grill makes it easy to clean the dust off of it.

Edit: Well it's been almost exactly 4 years and not only is the original fan still going strong, but I purchased a second one just this last week! When I decided I liked the wall fan in my living room I then wanted one for my bedroom too. I tried a different brand fan of similar price first. Unfortunately that inferior fan decided to stop working after just 2 years, so I opted to upgrade with the obviously much more reliable Hurricane. The quality of this fan has stood the test of time and made me a return customer!

I bought this to keep a garage ventilated cool enough to work in during the summer, without being miserable. The CFM ratings, if accurate, are a lot better than most fans in this price range. Installation was easy enough, though there were a few steps the instructions could be clearer on - i.e. you need to hold the metal rod that spins the fan to do the "unscrew spinner," step, but whatever that could be me having a daft moment. Anyway, I mounted the fan on the wall furthest from the garage door, more or less centered. On full speed and oscillate, it does a nice job of keeping it decent in there. It was hot and miserable getting the fan installed, but once it was installed I did some other tasks and temperature wasn't an issue anymore. It helps with stuffiness. Maybe if you're willing to spend $100 there's a better option for this, but for $50 I think this is a pretty good value.

Keep in mind it can be aimed up or down by using a screwdriver. Not sure that was in the instructions or not, I may have missed it,

This was an easy installation. Screw the bracket to wall (leave room on all sides) the place the motor onto the bracket and secure. Then assemble the fan part. No surprises.
There are two cords. One on the left controls oscillation. The one on the right is fan speed. Very straight forward. There are three settings and the lowest one is probably powerful enough for most people. But if you want to clear the smell of burnt toast, go for three :-)

It runs quietly, barely white noise. If it is loud, there is something wrong with where you hung it.

Before hanging it, try to face where the fan will be hanging and turn your head slowly. The objects in your line of sight will be pushed by the breeze. I had my clock knocked off the wall because the fan kept blowing behind it until it knocked it off it's nail.

The cords are not very long, so make sure you hand this where you have access. Otherwise you will want to get a remote control electric socket for remote switching.

Mine not the remote control model ( & thank goodness too because I have remote contols coming out of my ying yang). I purchased one for my patio over year ago because needed the oscillating feature and it's still out there working. So now here I am again after I decided that I also needed one for my garage. I'm a fairly short lady so needed a six' ladder, stud finder, drill w/ drill bits ( & maybe a level so not lopsided). I found wood, used slim drill bit with mounting bracket held where I wanted as guide, screwed bracket in (only needed to use one anchor that was provided), then slid fan unto bracket. The fan itself is easy to assemble but does come with instructions. It has two long strings ( one for oscillating choice & one for speed). Took me about 30 minutes to do everything. This was was easy to install so unless you are missing parts or lack common sense then shouldn't be a problem. I just save " bugging the hubby" for things I dont have man strength or knowledge of.

We have four Hurricane brand wall-mounted fans in our home. We first bought two of the smaller model a couple years ago and loved them so much that we bought two of these. Since these are wall mounted, they don't take up precious floor space in our small home and the fan blades are out of reach of our children's little fingers . I also love that they don't interfere with our robotic vacuum the way that floor fans so. As far as the fan itself, it is POWERFUL- the brand name Hurricane is truly appropriate. This thing moves air. It can be a little noisy, but that's only a problem for us when we want to watch a program on the television. These come with a remote, but honestly, I've never used them- it's easy enough to pull the cords to turn it on and adjust speed and oscillation. The cords lengths can be easily adjusted to whatever length you'd like. The electrical cords can look unsightly dangling down the wall, but that's easy enough to remedy with a cord cover.

We have a very small living room with a small doorway and the windows are too small for an AC unit. So while the rest of the house is comfortable, the living room is hot and stuffy.

This fan solved all that. We mounted it just inside the room so it can blow the cooled air from the kitchen into the living room. It works perfectly. I wish we had thought of this sooner.

The cords for changing the fan speed and turning the oscillation on and off are definitely long enough to mount this much higher than we have it.

The sound is normal fan sound level. It is quieter than the AC unit in the kitchen.

There is no remote control. At least, there isn't one that I have seen.

Shipping took longer than it was supposed to and the two I ordered together arrived separately but I received frequent updates on the shipping status.

All in all, this is absolutely worth the money.

Works well so far for our non-air conditioned upstairs hallway. Installation notes: 1) yes the mounting bracket is too wide for most wall studs but if you find the studs correctly you should be able to get two of three screws in the stud and in my case with Sheetrock I used a drywall screw-in anchor for the third screw. This is more than enough support for the weight of this fan. 2) Yes it is auto-oscillating but what I didn't realize at first is that you have to pull the "b" cord (oscillation control) harder than you would pull the "a" cord (speed control). Pull the "b" cord until it clicks and then the oscillation is set. Pull it again to stop the oscillation and then it will stay fixed in the position at which you pulled the "b" cord. The instructions could have mentioned the need to click the oscillating cord into place.
